FALL ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
Fall is undoubtedly one of the prettiest seasons of the year. With nature changing and all things coming to a restful end, it is time to slow down from the hustle and bustle of everyday life that 2021 has brought us and really enjoy the present. The season is full of so much natural beauty, but it is hard to remember to embrace what is around if we don't make time for it. For our family, we really take the end of the year to slow down, spend more time with those we love, and prepare our minds and hearts for the season and year ahead.
Making a Fall Bucket list is always a great way to plan together as a family and look forward to what is ahead. It is also a great way to keep accountable to be more proactive about spending quality time together to make it an unforgettable season.
Here are some of our favorite activities for the fall season!
APPLE PICKING
Living in Southern California has its perks with many U-Pick farms in driving distance. Why not gather the family and visit Glen Oaks, where there are an abundance of apple farms that are just waiting for little hands and mouths to enjoy their apples. Make it a day trip and prepare a picnic before or after enjoying the farm.
COLLECTING LEAVES TO PAINT AND PLAY
Every neighborhood has trees that are shedding all their leaves, so why not enjoy what mother nature is graciously providing. Gather up all the neighborhood leaves in your area to create a LARGE pile to jump in! Recruit all the neighborhood children to gather and create a larger pile together for hours of play. And don't forget to save some of the best leaves to paint silly faces on. We painted the faces and left a trail of the painted leaves for others to find.
SNUGGLE UP NEAR A FIRE TO READ OR HAVE A FAMILY GAME NIGHT
Fall weather means cooler temperatures perfect for finally being able to use that fireplace you have been waiting all year to do. Gather the family to read together by the fire, or even have a family game night.
FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT
A year coming to an end means a year of growth and change, so why not capture all the memories within nature's beauty. Schedule a fall photoshoot with your family on a hiking trail , or an outdoor area with lots of fall colors. It will make for great photos and a fun, memorable time.
GO FOR A HIKE AND ENJOY NATURE CHANGING
Hiking trails will look a little differently during this time of the year, so gather the family and go for a hike. Make it more fun by finding a fall hiking scavenger hunt for the kids to cross off their list as they hike.
PLAY TOUCH FOOTBALL
Football is definitely the sport of the season, so why not gather up all your friends and family members to get outside and play touch football. Whether you win or lose, it will surely be a great time.
MAKE A THANKFUL LIST TOGETHER
We sometimes forget to really think about the things we are thankful for, so sitting down with the family to make your thankful list is a great way to have a heart-warming conversation. You can even make it a craft project by creating a turkey from construction paper and writing one thing you are thankful for each day on a feather and placing it on the turkey's body for 14 days before Thanksgiving.
BAKE A PIE TOGETHER
One of our favorite things to do in the fall is cook comforting food together, and no fall season is complete in our family without creating a delicious sweet and savory pie from scratch. There's just something so amazing about enjoy a pie as a family that was made from scratch.
Happy Fall from all of us at Magic Paper Studios!
