Homemade Cheddar and Garlic Biscuits
What sounds more lovely than a homemade biscuit straight out of the oven? How about warm, homemade biscuits with cheddar and garlic? Today's blog post is comprised of a very easy cheddar and garlic recipe that is easy enough to make with the kiddos.
Here is what you'll need:
(2) cups all-purpose flour
(1) cup cheddar cheese - shredded
(1) tablespoon baking powder
(1) teaspoon salt
(1) teaspoon garlic powder
(2/3) cup of milk
(1/3) cup of butter - room temperature
(1) large egg
(2) tablespoons melted butter
Optional: (2) cloves of fresh garlic chopped to garnish on top before going into the oven
Optional: fresh parsley to sprinkle on top as garnish
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and butter a baking sheet with the room temperature butter.
Step 2:
Combine flour, cheddar cheese, baking powder, salt and garlic powder in a bowl.
Step 3:
Combine milk, 1/3 cup butter, and egg in a separate bowl. Mix into the flour mixture until well mixed together, slightly chunky.
Step 4:
Drop batter by tablespoonfuls onto the baking sheet. If you chose to chip garlic, sprinkle on top before placing in the oven.
Step 5:
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and use a brush to brush melted butter on top and continue baking until golden brown, about 5 minutes more. Remove from oven to cool and sprinkle with fresh parsley on top. Serve with a side of butter and sea salt, if desired.
