Valentine’s Day Books for Toddlers

Valentine’s Day is coming up and one of our favorite ways to celebrate is to read some books about love. Nothing brings a warmer feeling to our hearts than curling up with our kids and reading, especially when the books are about those very same cozy cuddly sentiments. We’ve selected some of our favorite books that explore different kinds of love (friendship, love from a distance, etc.) as well as various emotions to help our little ones along in their social-emotional development. They’re also super cute and fun to read, so we hope you’ll find some ideas here to add to your library:

In My Heart: A Book of Feelings

This adorable book explores a range of feelings that toddlers may experience in an approachable and age-appropriate manner. We’ve likely all seen how our toddlers seem to feel their feelings from head to toe, and this book incorporates descriptions of some of those physical sensations to help children understand their emotions.

I Love You, Blue Kangaroo

As Lily’s special stuffed friend, Blue Kangaroo is worried when other stuffed animals join the family and wonders about his place in her life. In the end, he learns that there is no one who can replace him, and children can learn that our love for certain people (or things) are treasured and irreplaceable. This is truly such a sweet book!

Happy Valentine’s Day and happy reading!
