What to Wear for a Summer Photoshoot: Kids Edition
With our Magic Paper Studios summer pop-up sessions coming up, we wanted to offer some tips on what to wear for a summer photoshoot! The nice thing about our sessions is that they require very minimal work on your part. We’ve already designed the sets, so all you have to do is bring your kid(s) dressed and ready to play!
Colors
One advantage of our mostly black and white hand-drawn backdrops is that they really leave the door wide open in terms of color options. It will be virtually impossible to wear a color that clashes with the background! That being said, it is summertime, so we recommend choosing clothing in fun colors that are reminiscent of a day spent at the boardwalk, like a punchy coral, aqua, lime green, and sunshine yellow to name a few. As you can see with the images in this post, these hues also play well with the pops of color we’ve chosen for our props.
Prints & Textures
Like with colors, our backdrops give you a wide array of options when it comes to prints and textures. Clothing that includes denim, gingham, florals, stripes, eyelet, smocking, and ruffles are reminiscent of warm summer days. You could also go with a pattern made of cute summertime motifs, like watermelon, lobsters, popsicles, etc. Those are quite popular in children’s clothing nowadays, and you might even find one that echoes some of our props!
Accessories
For extra flair, don’t forget the accessories! We don’t know what it is about babies and kids in accessories, but don’t they just wear it all so much better than we ever could? Sun hats, bonnets, fedoras, sunglasses, and bows—layer them on!
Choosing what to wear for a summer photoshoot should be fun, not stressful. We hope this post gave you some ideas for what to look for when shopping for your child’s photoshoot outfit. We can’t wait to see your littles in-studio this summer!
